U.S. Customs and Border Protection opens a new border checkpoint near Laredo.

LAREDO-- U.S. Border Patrol Chief David Aguilar and other dignitaries attended Friday's grand opening ceremony.

The six-lane, $15,000,000 station is located 29 miles north of the border on Interstate 35.

It replaces a station that was built in 1988, 15 miles north of the border.

Laredo, which borders Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, is the largest inland checkpoint in the United States.
